.HINDUISM

Hinduism is the world’s oldest religion, according to many scholars, with roots and customs dating back more than 4,000 years. Today, with more than 1.2 -1.3 Billion . Hinduism is the third-largest religion After   ISLAM and Christianity Around 96% of the world’s Hindus live in India. Because the religion has no proper definition of it origin , it’s difficult to trace its origins and history. Hinduism is unique in that it’s not a single religion but a compilation of many traditions and Mythology.

Hinduism is also knowns as sanarthan dharma,

sanatana dharma, in Hindusim, term used to denote the “eternal” or absolute set of duties or religiously ordained practices incumbent upon all Hindus, regardless of class, caste, or sect. Different texts give different lists of the duties, but in general sanatana dharma consists of virtues such as honesty, refraining from injuring living beings, purity, goodwill, mercy, patience, forbearance, self-restraint, generosity, and asceticism. Sanatana dharma is contrasted with svadharma, one’s “own duty” or the particular duties enjoined upon an individual according to his or her class or caste and stage of life. The potential for conflict between the two types of Dharma (e.g., between the particular duties of a warrior and the general injunction to practice non-injury) is addressed in Hindu texts such as the Bhagaved gita, where it is said that in such cases svadharma must prevail.

The term has also more recently been used by Hindu leaders, reformers, and nationalists to refer to Hinduism as a unified world religion. Sanatana dharma has thus become a synonym for the “eternal” truth and teachings of Hinduism, the latter conceived of as not only transcendent of history and unchanging but also as indivisible and ultimately nonsectarian

Origins of Hinduism

Most scholars believe Hinduism started somewhere between 2300 B.C. and 1500 B.C. in the Indus Valley, near modern-day Pakistan. But many Hindus argue that their faith is timeless and has always existed.

Unlike other religions, Hinduism has no one founder but is instead a fusion of various beliefs.

Around 1500 B.C., the Indo-Aryan people migrated to the Indus Valley, and their language and culture blended with that of the indigenous people living in the region. There’s some debate over who influenced whom more during this time.

The period when the Vedas were composed became known as the “Vedic Period” and lasted from about 1500 B.C. to 500 B.C. Rituals, such as sacrifices and chanting, were common in the Vedic Period.

The Epic, Puranic and Classic Periods took place between 500 B.C. and A.D. 500. Hindus began to emphasize the worship of deities, especially Vishnu, Shiva and Devi.

The concept of dharma was introduced in new texts, and other faiths, such as Buddhism and Jainism, spread rapidly.

HINDU GODS

Hindus worship many gods and goddesses in addition to Brahman, who is believed to be the supreme God force present in all things.

Some of the most prominent deities include

  • Brahma: the god responsible for the creation of the world and all living things
  • Vishnu: the god that preserves and protects the universe
  • Shiva: the god that destroys the universe in order to recreate it
  • Devi: the goddess that fights to restore dharma
  • Krishna: the god of compassion, tenderness and love

HINDU FESTIVAL

  • Diwali: the festival of lights
  • Navaratri: a celebration of fertility and harvest
  • Holi: a spring festival
  • Krishna Janmashtami: a tribute to Krishna’s birthday
  • Raksha Bandhan: a celebration of the bond between brother and sister
  • Maha Shivaratri: the great festival of Shiva

Religious Symbol

Christanity

Christianity is a religion based on the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It began in the 1st century AD in the Roman province of Judea, where Jesus was born and lived. Jesus’ teachings were revolutionary, emphasizing love, forgiveness, and humility. He performed miracles and preached about the coming of God’s kingdom.

After Jesus’ death, his followers spread his message throughout the Roman Empire, despite persecution and opposition. Christianity grew rapidly, attracting converts from all walks of life. In the 4th century AD, Emperor Constantine converted to Christianity and made it the official religion of the Roman Empire.

The Division

Over the centuries, Christianity has undergone many changes and divisions. The Roman Catholic Church, Eastern Orthodox Church, and Protestant denominations all have their roots in the early Christian Church. The Bible is the book which contains the tecahing of Jesus Christ .

Today, Christianity is the world’s largest religion, with over 2 billion followers worldwide. Christians are called to keep their focus on Christ, which can be achieved through setting their hearts and minds on things above, developing a prayer life, and reading the Bible. The Christian faith teaches that Christ is the source of all goodness, and that believers should resist the temptations of worldly distractions.

In conclusion, Christianity has a rich and complex history, spanning over two thousand years. Despite its many divisions and controversies, it has remained a powerful force for good in the world, inspiring countless people to live lives of faith, hope, and love.
